My name is Mandy and I am 35 years old. I was born in Chile and adopted when I was a newborn to my family here in Texas. I am their youngest of four children and the only one adopted. My family has been open and honest with me about my adoption. Although I am Hispanic and my family is white, I have never felt different. I am a single parent with a 6 year old son and we have one dog and one cat in our household. I have always loved children. Consequently, I decided to major in Elementary Education for my undergraduate degree where I taught Kindergartners. I then received my graduate degree in Human Resources and spend my days working and helping employees in a hospital. I have always wanted to adopt a child and recreate the positive family life I experienced growing up.

Dear Birthmother

Dear Birthmother, It would be a dream come true if you chose me to raise your child. Here are five reasons why I think I would make a good mother to your child. I promise that I will always love your child. I have a big heart, and I am very calm and patient. You have my word that your child will live in a loving and welcoming home. I come from a close-knit family, and family is everything to me. I am adopted, so I am uniquely qualified to be an adoptive parent. I was born in Santiago, Chile. I was adopted when I was a newborn to my family here in Houston, Texas. I am their youngest of four children. I have always known that I was adopted. My family has been honest with me. I have dealt with self-identity issues that adopted children experience. I am Hispanic, and I value racial and multi-cultural diversity. I would raise your child in an open-minded environment with lots of fun traditions, celebrations, love, joy, laughter, decorations, and homemade cooking. I am a proud Latina. I am an experienced mother. My biggest pride and joy is being a mother. I have a 5 year old son. He is excited about having a new baby sister or brother. I am looking forward to growing our family. I can provide a good home and a bright future for your child. I am blessed to have a wonderful job in human resources in the medical field that will allow me to give your child a comfortable upbringing. I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees, and I will instill this value of education into my children. It would be the greatest honor of my life if you chose me.

Reason to Adopt

I was born in Santiago, Chile. My parents adopted me as a newborn baby. I am their youngest of four children. I have always known that I was adopted. My family has been open and honest with me. Although I am Hispanic and my family is white, I have never felt different. I know the power of love. I am uniquely qualified to be an adoptive parent because I have dealt with self-identity issues that adopted children experience. I also value racial and multi-cultural diversity. When I was a teenager, my family and I flew to Santiago to meet my birth mother as well as my birth siblings and their families. Although I was happy, I yearned to learn about my origins and birth family. We continue to keep in touch. My biggest pride and joy is being a mother. I have a 6 year old son. He is excited about having a new baby sister or brother. I am looking forward to having a growing family. I am blessed to have a wonderful job in human resources at a Hospital that will allow me to give my children a comfortable upbringing. I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees, and I will instill this value of education into my children. Adoption has profoundly influenced not only my life but also the lives of my family. Inspired by my adoption, my oldest sister adopted my nephew from Guatemala as a newborn. He is now nearly 18 years old. This experience touched my heart. He is an important part of my life, and I love him. Adoption is woven into the fabric of my family. I want to provide a loving and welcoming home to a child like my family did for me. I know there will be growing pains and tough times, but I feel that I know how to handle those situations from being adopted myself and from my nephew's experiences.

I am adopted

I've always thought I would have more than one child. I was adopted when I was an infant from Chile and knew that I wanted to adopt as well as have biological children. I want to provide a loving and welcoming home to a child like my family did for me. I know there will be growing pains and tough times, but I feel that I know how to handle those situations from being adopted myself.

Large, Close Family

Family is very important to me. I have 3 older siblings that all have children of their own. We all see each other at least two to three times a year. Whether it is for a summer vacation, niece/nephew graduation or holidays we all make the time to see each other. My family is there to support my family and are there for me.

My 6 year old son

I have a biological 6 year old boy. He is in Kindergarten this year and loves his school. Our elementary school is in our neighborhood so the kids are all very close. He likes to do a lot of extracurricular activities (sports, gymnastics, etc.) and I am able to attend his events due to a flexible job.We have a caretaker at home that stays with him after school as well. She has been with us since he was 1 years old. I have been a single mother since he was two years old. He is very excited for a sibling!
