Aaron is the best teacher I have ever seen. He absolutely loves his job and does everything he can to make sure his students are successful. He thrives at the middle school level because he is able to be his goofy self, and they love him for it. He even lets them break water balloons over his head as part of a review game. He was born to be a teacher. When Aaron is active, he thrives. He loves to go biking, fishing, running, and golfing in his free time and coaches golf and basketball during the school year. He has high energy, and he is always finding ways to add some adventure to our lives. He LOVES mint Oreo's, his favorite superhero is Batman, he cuts his own hair, and goes all out for Halloween every year.

Ashley has the most beautiful soul of anyone I know. When she commits to something she is fastidious. Her career, marriage, and family are all things she holds dear to her heart. Because we teach in the same building, I get to see the relationships she has with each of her students. I always hear the kids say how much they love Mrs. Mines and her reading class. Family is sacred for Ashley. She will go to the ends of the earth to protect the members of her family and people she holds dear to her heart. She loves Harry Potter. Her perfect morning is coffee, a blanket, and Max on her lap while watching Grey's Anatomy. Her favorite candy is pretzel M&M's.

Dear Birthmother

You don't know us yet, but we have been praying for you for a while now. Know that we think of you as an incredibly courageous person, and we are grateful for you, and what you are doing for a potential family. We understand that you want what is best for your child, whether or not you pick us or another deserving family. We both knew going into our marriage that we someday wanted kids and after spending our first year of marriage together, we decided it was time. We tried for about a year and a half before realizing God intended for us to take a different path-adoption! We both had talked about adoption while we were dating and knew that our struggle to get pregnant was His way of guiding us in the direction that was best for us. We are so excited to adopt and welcome a little one to our family.

Reason to Adopt

We both knew going into our marriage that we someday wanted kids and after spending our first year of marriage together, we decided it was time. We tried for about a year and a half before realizing God intended for us to take a different path-adoption! We both had talked about adoption while we were dating and knew that our struggle to get pregnant was His way of guiding us in the direction that was best for us. We are so excited to adopt and welcome a little one to our family.

This is us...

We are a family that celebrates holidays with enthusiasm, celebrates our dogs birthday, fishes on a Sunday afternoon, eats way too much popcorn and pizza, and likes to sometimes just stay home and watch Netflix on the couch. We spend weekdays with our students, weekends with our families, and wouldn't have it any other way. We consider ourselves lucky to spend our lives surrounded by an incredible support system, including both our family and community. We love our life and cannot wait to share it with a child someday.

Our Story

We met at a golf course in the middle of the summer. While we had known each other previously, it wasn't until Aaron made a bold phone call that really changed everything. Pretending to need a tee time from the pro shop at the golf course, he called the reality office where Ashley worked, fully knowing she would answer the phone. That phone call led to movie dates, golfing dates, rodeo dates, and a summer full of adventure. It was pretty obvious to both of us we were meant to be together, so we made it work long distance while we pursued our own adventures in school and work. Two years later, in the home we, finally, shared together, Aaron popped the question. We were married the next year on July, 30th 2016.

Our Home and Community

We bought our house about a year ago when it was just a concrete slab on a hill. We spent the next six months picking colors, cabinets, flooring, and everything we could to help our house become a home. Ashley took care of most of the inside details, while Aaron put hard work into our yard. Together we think we were able to create a cozy, welcoming home where we can easily relax and also host friends and family for dinner. Our house is close to downtown, parks, and different walking paths. We live about a half an hour away from most of our immediate family, making it the perfect location for us. We look forward to Saturday morning movies in the living room, playing tag in the backyard, and game nights on our dinner table. Buffalo is a small community filled with genuine people. It's the type of place where kids ride their bikes all around town, everyone gathers for the Friday night football games, and you run into at least two people you know at the grocery store on a Tuesday night. As teachers and coaches, we are involved with many community events like Halloween parades, farmers markets, color runs, and chilli gatherings in Crazy Women Square downtown.
